The specs say '4 D/minute, FPOT (First Print Output Time) from Sleep 42s for a D–size' - so no, not 8ft/minuteThe actual plot speed is the same as the 9300/9400 series, but with the onboard computer it processes a lot faster so the time from clicking OK on the plot dialogue to actually holding the plot in your hand is much quicker. My workstation is about 11 or 12 steps from the plotter (which is very quiet) and I can send a half-size 30x42 and by the time I walk to the plotter it is just about finished.Another big plus is that the output is on the top side of the plotter - they stack on the top - our rep says that when it gets to about 50 plots on the output it will stop until you clear them.Aside from kicking over to the next size paper instead of stopping when the roll is empty, I like it.Built-in copier and scanner too (you can scan B&W or color) - and the DPI output is better than our old 9300 too! Jeff is right, the first print out time equates to 8 D's - thats after sitting idle for minutes or even hours. This is noted in specs because all others go to 'sleep' to try and conserve power resulting in minute(s) wait to see first print completed. The PlotWave's speed is definitely faster (probably 10x!) than the 9300 (9 ftpm) and the 9400 (10 ftpm). The 9300 was a short lived / reduced featured 9400 (no stf and slower) to compete with cheaper boxes 10+ years ago.
If you have either of these you will appreciate the processing and print speed of the PlotWave. Heck the 9400 was produced in 1998 and had a 20mgz processor, we're talking dinosaur compared to new processor.
And yes, 600DPI verses the 9300's 300DPI and scans monochrome drawings at 38ft pm. Really tough to beat in the $16k range.oh and I have sold Oces since 1998, I'm not just a guy that needs a hobby.! Good luck to allChris. I don't really care about the time ittakes to wake up or process the file(s), etc.For example, our TCS860 prints about 43ft / min., once it startsprinting.I wish all of Oce's marketing data was consistent. Some mention # ofsheets per minute, others mention linear ft/min.-R.K.

Not that I am aware of.You can set it so that if the correct size paper is not loaded it will stop, but one of our clients uses 22x34 - so we would have to change the roll or do something else.To compound our problem we will sometimes 'posterize' a pdf binder so we can print 4 reduced-size at once, and it seems like I am the only one that can remember to change the settings to accommodate this. All in all, a good machine - we have upgraded to the PW 360 but it is very similar to the 300.Still best thing to do is to check and make sure you have enough paper to do all the plots.
